CHAIRPERSONS REPORT DECEMBER 2023

For the Information of Members on Behalf of the Board of Directors

Courtesy Car

The Board of Directors are pleased to announce we will be purchasing a courtesy car for the benefit of all members. The Board are always looking for ways to improve the duty of care to members and feel this is a necessity for our regular customers and the elderly to be able to get to the Club and home in a safe manner. The town perimeters for the cars pick up and times of use will be on trial in the early stages.

Greens and Surrounds

A big thank you to Ray Hunt and his greens team for the immaculate condition of the greens and surrounds. They are the envy of every club in the area.

We have completed the major levelling works to our number one green and our reimbursement of funds have been credited into our bank account in early December. The initial works were paid for in October and this showed a negative result in our balance sheet for the October period of some $32500. This will now show a further positive result for December +$32500.

The Club has purchased a second-hand bowling greens roller form our friends at Kempsey Heights Bowling Club for a nominal fee of $200. The roller will allow us to continually produce the best playing surfaces possible for both greens.

Outdoor Entertainment and Playground Equipment

We are pleased to report that stage 1 of the outdoor entertainment and playground area has been completed. This area now has a safe fenced off area and certified soft fall for children to safely use as well as the new playground equipment.

A New Year’s Eve afternoon for families plus other activities over the holiday period for this area are being planned.

Further development of this area is in the planning stage.

We sincerely thank Bill Coughlan, Brendan Ruane and Mark Blackford, Pete Meehan, Graham Power and Fred You and the Road Runner Dave Ogilvy for their voluntary efforts in getting stage 1 of this project completed as well as the many volunteer helpers over the period of this project, too many to name here. The temperature gauge has certainly been high over the last two weeks, thank you gentlemen.

Please refer to the playground conditions of use before entering the area.

Finance

We are pleased to report that the turnover continues to rise, we are still seeing improved results in all departments. The new bar has seen further improvement in our keg beer sales, as well as wines, spirits and carton sales.

Gaming

The gaming room will also be getting a makeover in the new year with new gaming stools on order. This may not happen until March due to supply and delivery. The Board in continuing with plans to revamp the gaming area when funds are available. The old stools will be used for the front veranda areas.

Social

It is pleasing to see the response to our new MEGA raffle days. Due to the success of the Mega Raffles, they will continue in the new year on the 3rd Sunday in the month with a massive $5000 to give away. The prize draws for the raffles will be reduced to 50 draws worth $4000 with 2 x $500 members draws at the conclusion of the raffles. Tickets will go on sale at 11am and the draw will start at 1pm. Kids Eat Free Sundays will be introduced to the restaurant menu plus free ice creams for the children before the draw starts.

We look forward to your continued support with the Mega Raffle Sundays.

Staffing

We wish all our staff a very happy festive season for all the hard work you for the members of the Club and the community. Your work is immensely appreciated.

Renovations

The Board and Staff continue to make your Club a better and safer place and continue with the refurbishment of weather damaged areas. Refurbishment is currently being done to the Auditorium area and this is the first stage of major renovations to this area.

We know the members will appreciate the changes we continue to make for the safety of all members and guests. We are continuing to try and source grants funding to make improvements to all areas of the Clubhouse internally and externally.

Stage 2 of the roof guttering repairs will also take place in February, and we have applied for funding assistance for this project also.

Two grant applications have been submitted this week and we are hopeful of a positive outcome for both.

Volunteers

We again thank all the volunteers who have stood up during the year in all areas of the Club. Without your continued support, our Club would not be what it is today.

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year – it offers the chance to catch up with family and friends. It is also a time to take a step back in our busy lives and enjoy the time Christmas brings. On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
